Teaching at the Quilting Barn, New Liskeard, Ontario
OK, I think it's time for an update - nothing has been posted for awhile. Well, I arrived in Earlton on January 20th and I have been busy with house renovation, unpacking boxes, spending time with family and friends and of course, quilting!! I have recruited four new quilters and I am now having fun with my beginner class. We're putting together a sampler quilt - the same quilt I made in 1998 when Anne Donaghy taught me my first beginner class in Ottawa. Thirteen years later, it's now my turn to hopefully get some new quilters hooked on this fun hobby and artform.

The Nicholas Project
Nicholas, son to Carolyn, husband to Susan, brother to Samantha, father to Alexandra and Sebastian, passed away suddenly on September 22, 2006 at the age of 34. In 2007, a duffle bag containing some of his clothes was delivered to me by Samantha. I started to work on this project in September 2010. Better late than never.

Crash course on the Innova Longarm Quilting Machine
I spent a few hours today with my friend, Nancy, who is the lucky owner of an Innova longarm machine! Boy, there's a lot to learn but it will be SO worth it. She has a beautiful studio in Montebello, Quebec. Thanks to her expertise, I now feel more comfortable about putting the machine together - it will take time but I am up to a new challenge!
Lovely quilted swirls by my friend Nancy.

Getting ready to live the dream!
Today is the first day of my blog. I will soon be leaving the National Capital Region and my government job to live my dream - quilt my little heart out! I have purchased an Innova longarm (it has yet to be delivered). I have a few lessons under my belt thanks to my friend and mentor Alice. I have boxes all over the house and ready to be shipped to my new location, a small Northern Ontario town known as Earlton, Ontario. Who would be happy to move a week before Christmas?? Me Me .... I am starting to live my dream in January 2011! Wish me luck! Will post pictures later!
